Touching the Void

By David Greig

When and where

11th – 15th February 2025

at The Old Court Theatre at 7.45pm.

About

In 1985 experienced climbers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates set out to climb the unconquered face of a remote Andean mountain. It turned out to be an epic battle for survival against seemingly insurmountable odds.

The stage adaptation of this amazing true story follows in the footsteps of a critically acclaimed documentary, but rather than just explore what happened, this play also examines underlying themes of motivation, friendship, and ethics; asking – and answering – why anyone would “launch themselves up the side of a mountain at extreme risk to life and limb”.

Using a bold and imaginative set with striking audio visual effects, this intensely physical play requires four versatile actors who can bring out both the steely front and vulnerable insides of their characters, often whilst climbing around and hanging off a set that will dominate the theatre space.

This will be an adventure…
