Lisa Jones is on a journey. It’s a colorful and exciting off-kilter trip in search of one lost hour that has tipped the balance of her life. The inhabitants of the wonderful world she finds herself in – Dissocia – are a curious blend of the funny, the friendly and the brutal. As Neilson himself puts it, “if you like Alice in Wonderland but there’s not enough sex and violence in it, then Dissocia is the show for you”.

Corinne Woodgate is directing this show and here’s what she had to say about it:

“It may sound odd, but since seeing this play about 15 years ago, I haven’t stopped thinking about it. It has become a bit of an obsession of mine to get this on stage locally.

“Combining absurdist, physical and naturalistic theatre styles, ‘The Wonderful World of Dissocia’ explores the juxtaposition between the internal and external worlds of a young woman in the midst of a mental health crisis.

“Audiences will be taken on a wild ride, accompanying Lisa on her journey through the ridiculous and melancholic landscapes ahead of her. I hope, like me, the themes will stick in the minds of audiences long after the curtain call.

“I’m trying to hold back on lots of detail, without being too vague, so if I offer these little nuggets – dancing hotdogs, singing polar bears and an ever-present dark force – are you intrigued?!”
