by Tom Stoppard
12 – 16th September 2023 at The Old Court Theatre.
Arcadia is one of Stoppard’s most celebrated plays and debuted at the National Theatre 30 years ago this year. It explores a variety of themes, including the conflict between rationality and irrationality, the nature of love and desire, the relationship between past and present, and the importance of knowledge and understanding in human life. Its setting is the same country house in two different time periods, the early 1800s and the 1990s, and focuses on the lives of two groups of characters whose lives intersect in unexpected ways.
